Bus accident kills 3 and injures 6

BUTUAN CITY — Three passengers died while six others were wounded when a mini-bus fell into a shallow ravine here Saturday morning.

Butuan City San Mateo Police Station chief Joseph Boquiren said the double-tire mini-bus overturned and fell into the ravine in Purok 3, Barangay Amparo around 8:45 a.m.

The police chief said the mini-bus was fully loaded with passengers, sacks of corn and other cargoes from Kambuayon, Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte when the accident happened.

Boquiren identified one of the fatalities as 14-year-old Alfredo Langanon Asperin who died on the spot.

The two other fatalities, a mother and her son who were seated beside the driver, were not immediately identified.

The driver-owner of the mini-bus, Lauro Alvarez, of Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte, was among the injured victims, police said.

Others injured were identified as Randy Lagubay, Mauricio Udtuhan, Garry Mendez, Dennis Matulas, and Arnold Maghari.

Investigation is ongoing. (PNA)
