Service Held For Murdered Paeroa Pizza Man

June 27th, 2012 - Comments Off

The community of Paeroa has paid tribute to the pizza shop owner who was murdered nine days ago.

Jordan Voudouris was found in a pool of blood near his business, Mykonos Pizza and Pasta takeaways, about 6am on Monday last week.

A public service for the 55-year-old was held at midday at the Paeroa War Memorial Hall.

Police are still looking for his killer, but two men have been arrested for vandalising memorials left at the victim’s shop.

Two local men, aged 38 and 42, have been charged with wilful damage and theft and are expected to appear in Waihi District Court on July 3, Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Whitehead said.

Whitehead said police were making “steady progress” and more investigators were being brought in to help with inquiries. Twenty seven officers are now working on the case.

Whitehead said police are still not prepared to reveal the details of Voudouris’ injuries, as the information could still prove key to catching the offender and solving the homicide.
