Bus Privatization placed off by Richmond Country Schools

March 23rd, 2012 - Comments Off

By Jayson Wermers

It will be at least one more year, if at all, before the Richmond County school system privatizes its bus transportation services.

The school board voted 6-3 Friday, the first day of its two-day retreat, to authorize the administration to issue a request for proposals for outsourced busing. Board members Marion Barnes, Venus Cain and Patsy Scott were opposed, and Barbara Pulliam was absent.

Any proposals companies submit would have to have start dates of Aug. 1, 2013, meaning the school system would continue to run its own transportation department at least through the 2012-13 school year.

Tornado Bus Company | E Jefferson Blvd | Dallas, TX

We stopped in at Tornado Bus Station in Dallas to drop off some friends who were heading out of town and noticed how packed it was tonight.

As always there is a taxicab out front (Taxi Dallas) awaiting passengers who just arrived to take them to their destinations in DFW.  I believe this company may still be in the Stone Ages since there was no website address whatsoever about Taxi Dallas.

Lent is upon us | TheCatholicSteward

This season of intense fasting and prayer offers us an opportunity to focus on our sinful nature and the wonder of Christ’s saving power in a particularly poignant way. As Jesus tells us in the gospel reading today, we are to “repent and believe in the gospel.”

But doing so involves much more than a simple passive belief. In fact, for Christian disciples, this belief in the gospel necessitates a life actively lived for the sake of the gospel, a life lived in immigration of Jesus who gave himself up for death for the sake of others.

There Are Twenty? Were There Not Fifteen Mysteries of the Rosary?

February 15th, 2012 - Comments Off

In the Catholic faith, you may have heard of the word mystery used from time to time. Mystery refers to your important beliefs about God, Jesus H. Christ, and His Holy Mother, Mary, all of whom are an integral part of the Catholic religion but can not be substantiated outside of this belief. In another viewpoint, the three are important expressions of the faith of the people. The 15 mysteries of the rosary are divided up into three groups of five and symbolize events of joy, events of sorrow, and events of glory in the life of Jesus H. Christ and Mary.
